- U.K. physicians learn how to integrate EIM into clinical practices
|
During the past few months, the Exercise is MedicineTM message has spread to multiple countries and continents around the globe. Now, another region has been added to the list: the United Kingdom.
On Jan. 20 and 21, U.K. clinicians with specialties in sports and exercise medicine were trained on introducing physical activity counseling into their practices. Robert Sallis, M.D., FACSM, chair of the Exercise is Medicine Task Force, Steve Jonas, M.D., M.P.H., co-author of the "ACSM's Exercise is Medicine" book, and Adrian Hutber, Ph.D., vice president of Exercise is Medicine, presented to the group during a two-day seminar. Of 28 sports and exercise medicine registrars (doctors with advanced training in a specialized field) in the U.K., 22 attended the seminar.
The increasing globalization of the program will culminate during the inaugural World Congress on Exercise is Medicine, to be held in conjunction with ACSM's Annual Meeting (June 1-5, Baltimore). Click here for details on what the meeting will have in store.
