Be a Resource.

Provide Feedback to Health Care Providers.
After providing a consultation and again, after beginning an exercise program with a referred client, be sure to contact the health care provider and let them know how the patient is doing. Plan to check back every six weeks or so to let the health care provider know of their progress. The health care provider will be more likely to refer more patients to you.

Share Your Expertise.
Offer a presentation to interest groups on the value of exercise. You can begin with this exercise presentation or create your own! Contact local health promotion and community education ogranizations and fitness facilities in the area and offer to speak to their groups. Post public service announcements at your facility and in your client communcations.

Suggest a Fitness Friend.

Exercise is a choice. As a fitness professional, you have an interest in keeping your clients healthy and active. With so many obstacles to exercise, it's hard to do it alone. Encouragement from you will get them started; support from friends and family will keep them going. Have your client exercise with a friend. Fitness is contagious.

Inspire Action. Share Your Success Stories.
Do you follow up with clients and hold them accountable? Do you follow up with referring physicians? Have you given presentations in your community? How was it recieved? How do your clients stay motivated?  Share it with us now!
