Since the Inaugural World Congress in 2010, Exercise is Medicine staff, network members and partner organizations have worked to expand the program to all interested parties. Exercise is Medicine has developed a presence around the globe; in countries such as Australia, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Columbia, Portugal, China, Brazil and South Africa.
Because the benefits of exercise do not stop at country borders, Exercise is Medicine plans to develop six regional centers to enable all countries to learn about and benefit from the Exercise is Medicine program. Continue to check here for progress on the six regional centers:
This worldwide reach is not possible without our corporate partners, whose support allows us to spread the message to the public and consumers. Like the individuals and organizations that support Exercise is Medicine, the program’s corporate partners are highly dedicated to improving wellness and quality of life through physical activity and other healthy behaviors. Exercise is Medicine is advancing across all sectors – including industry – while maintaining the integrity of the program's evidence-based exercise recommendations.
World Congress on Exercise is Medicine
Each year, the World Congress on Exercise is Medicine brings together the leaders of the movement to share ideas, challenges and successes the initiative has seen around the globe.
2010 marked the inaugural World Congress on Exercise is Medicine– the official launch of the Exercise is Medicine program as a global initiative and unveiling of the Exercise is Medicine Charter. Denver was host to the Second World Congress on Exercise is Medicine in 2011, building on the work of the past year and introducing the Exercise is Medicine Global Health Care Declaration, detailing Exercise is Medicine's role in addressing the global physical inactivity "epidemic."
