Adrian Hutber, Ph.D. - Vice President of Exercise is Medicine®
Adrian Hutber was appointed Vice President of Exercise is Medicine® at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in 2008, after serving as the vice president of a fitness corporation and as the Director of the Distance Education Division of the world’s largest physical activity publisher, Human Kinetics. Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) is the multi organizational, multi national initiative co founded by the American Medical Association and ACSM - and subsequently managed by ACSM - to integrate the scientifically proven benefits of physical activity to prevent and treat chronic disease into the world’s health care systems.
He has been invited to give keynotes and presentations about physical activity and chronic disease and about EIM at US and international scientific and medical conferences in more than 40 countries on six continents and has helped to establish seven EIM Regional Centers and 43 EIM National Centers, all with the goal of making physical activity assessment, prescription, and referral part of health care systems globally.
Dr. Hutber has numerous publications in physiology and sports medicine scientific journals, has authored the Pre-Exercise Health Screening course (Human Kinetics, 2001), is a Board member of the National Advisory Council for Cancer and Exercise in the USA, and continues to serve on the editorial board or as a reviewer for medical journals.
Jennifer Pesarchick, B.S., cPT - Exercise is Medicine® Program Coordinator
Jennifer Pesarchick has been the program coordinator for EIM since January of 2014. She is responsible for the day to day activities of the initiative, assists in the coordination of both national and international efforts, works with EIM and ACSM staff on multiple collaborative projects, and provides support to EIM Committees and ACSM leaders. Jennifer received her Bachelor's in Exercise Science, specializing in Human Performance and Psychology, in 2013 from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL.
She is currently pursuing her Master's in Public Health at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, with an emphasis in social and behavioral sciences. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the ACSM.
Mark Stoutenberg, Ph.D., MPH - Exercise is Medicine® Program Officer
Mark Stoutenberg has been a faculty member at the University of Miami in the Department of Public Health Sciences since 2009. He earned his PhD in Exercise Physiology (2008) and a Master’s in Public Health (2011) at the University of Miami. His previous research experience has involved examining the impact of exercise interventions in different populations, such as untrained, inactive adults, breast cancer survivors, and individuals with substance abuse disorders. His current work involves the examination of the inclusion of physical activity in the training of healthcare professionals and the development of referral networks that link patients, particularly low income Hispanic individuals, to community resources and programs to increase their physical activity and improve their dietary habits.
Mark has been a member of the EIM team since 2013. He assists in the coordination of national efforts, provides support to the EIM Committees, and is actively involved in supporting the international development and expansion of EIM.
Phil Trotter - Consultant, EIM Solution, Network Builders Team (NBT) Consultant
Phil Trotter has over 38 years’ experience in various aspects of fitness and physical activity programming, participation strategies, exercise product development, and healthcare network services. He has consulted on a number of projects with clients that include Reebok, Nordic Track, Time Warner, SilverSneakers, ESPN, and Proctor & Gamble (P&G).
Phil currently leads the Network Builders Team (NBT), which serves as the on-the-ground community collaborative partner implementing the EIM Solution as a standard in healthcare.
