The Exercise is Medicine® (EIM) Education Committee seeks to identify strategies and develop resources to enhance the physical activity training of health care professionals in supporting their efforts to assess and promote physical activity with their patients. This includes identifying physical activity-related gaps in health professional training programs; developing and disseminating innovative training tools; providing guidance for physical activity experts working in medical schools and other health professional training programs; and establishing meaningful relationships with health professional organizations seeking to increase physical activity training opportunities for their members. The Committee consists of several working groups responsible for these activities.
This committee is comprised of multi-disciplinary experts from medicine, allied health, exercise science and public health who have a vested interest in advancing the physical activity training of health professionals. Committee members include clinicians who are familiar with health professional training programs and provide insight into their job responsibilities, as well as exercise scientists and professionals who serve as subject matter experts on physical activity content and training materials. Appointments are based on the expertise and experience needed to carry out special projects and tasks to be performed by the EIM Education Committee.
