Bone Fit™

In 2010, Osteoporosis Canada launched Bone Fit an evidence-informed exercise training workshop for certified exercise and health professionals.

The course content was developed by a Physical Therapist in conjunction with an advisory committee of expert clinicians and academics in the area of osteoporosis and exercise.

The workshop is designed with an e-learning module followed by a face-face session to provide training on the most appropriate, safe and effective methods to prescribe and progress exercise for people with osteoporosis. The workshop teaches simple transitional movements, activities of daily living and recreational pursuits adaptable for people with osteoporosis.

The 1 Day Bone Fit™ workshop is designed for Personal Trainers, Fitness instructors, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Physiotherapy Assistants and other certified fitness professionals.

The 2 Day Bone Fit™ workshop is designed for Physiotherapists, Physio Assistants, Kinesiologists, Exercise Physiologists and other certified exercise health professionals.

Registration for the workshop includes access to the E- Learning modules, course binder and a full day workshop. On completion of the workshop and post-workshop quiz the health professional is recognized by Osteoporosis Canada as Bone Fit™ Trained. Bone Fit™ Trained individuals receive access to the Members’ Area on the webpage and a listing on the Bone Fit™ Trained Locator Map.

The program is accredited by a number of organizations: http://www.bonefit.ca/accreditation/
