The Moving Through Cancer program was developed to help patients, families, health care providers and others find hospital and community-based exercise programs in their communities. Being active throughout the cancer journey and beyond can improve one's ability to handle and stick with cancer treatments, help the patient feel better and may even prevent cancer recurrence.

The goal of Moving Through Cancer is to provide information and promote awareness of physical activity, health, and wellness, and the benefits of physical activity in the prevention and treatment of disease. The programs and service providers identified in the Moving Through Cancer directory have no source, sponsorship or other affiliation with the American College of Sports Medicine (“ACSM”) nor have they been evaluated by ACSM. Individuals should consult and follow the advice of oncology professionals before commencing any treatment plan, including any program or other service offered by a provider identified in the directory. Program Description
The program components include initial assessment (medical hx, medication review, measurements of flexibility, muscular strength & endurance, BMI, % body fat, PHQ-9, Dartmouth COOP, DASI and Piper Fatigue scale) and exercise prescription, two one hour, personal training sessions and one month membership in our Phase IV adult fitness. The cost is $75. The client then has option of continuing in the Adult Fitness program with unlimited group sessions. The cost also includes a F/U 4-6 weeks after initial assessment to re-evaluate. Telemetry monitoring, blood pressure and blood glucose monitoring is also done as well as oxygen saturations.

Pilot cancer rehab program was initiated 8/2020, Have been seeing prehab Bladder CA to prepare for sx and breast cancer at all stages of treatment. Frequency/duration varies greatly depending on dx, pt, and stage of treatment. Patients are referred by ONC team - medical/surgical/radiation. Just opened program to any cancer diagnosis 11/2020. Lead PT does baseline assessment on all patients. Lead PT attended Nicole Stout's Cancer Rehabilitation seminar as well as Herman Wallace Oncology/Pelvic Floor seminar.
